Homúnculo is a performance about and featuring extraordinary creatures that appear in the spaces where Rafael and George of Crias are at work. They crawl under stage curtains, appear in all shapes and sizes, interact with the space they find themselves in, and seek to connect with one another. De Klap not only served as a residency venue, but also offered the homunculi a new context that immediately gave them a new form, thereby transforming the performance as well. Together with the creatures, Rafael & George are working towards the performance’s premiere in Portugal this December.
About Crias
Crias is an international duo comprising Rafael Gonzalez and George Swattridge. They met at circus school, where they performed together and developed new ideas. Although they each went their separate ways, their artistic connection remained strong. Meanwhile, as a performance artist, George built up a solid background in contemporary dance and circus. Rafael, as a physical performer, specialised in hand balancing and acrobatics and is currently studying at CODARTS – University of the Arts in Rotterdam.
