On the program
We start with the basics: our own unique universe. A world in which everything works the way we want it to. We take time to consciously and deeply examine our desires, longings and vulnerabilities. Without condemning them. From within, we move toward inspiration and creativity. Which we learn to put down on stage. Clowning is work: turning humor and vulnerability into a theatrical force. Why do we laugh? Clowning is relief. The challenge: playing who you are, not who you would like to be.
And then, of course, there is the audience. We learn to listen and connect. Giving attention to get attention. What if they don’t smile? What if we hit our limits? What if we fail? Can we deal with that too? And how does the audience respond then?
Week 1: The Entry of the Red Nose
We will start with awareness and finish with disarmament. We will be working on fundamental principles that we will build on for the rest of the month. And we will examine the difference between what is adapted to social norms and what is poetic.
Week 2: Freedom for Imagination
We enter our own universe and give our childishness the space it needs. Everything works the way we want it to. Everything is possible!
Week 3: Exploring and Experimenting
In the previous week we have opened the gates of our universe. This week, we will start exploring. We will examine our ideas and take our place on the stage.
Week 4: Time to Create
We will be looking for a balance between spontaneity and technique. How do we transform our ideas? How do we maneuver from fantasy to humor that strikes a chord?
