A residency program for artists with a clear vision and concrete ideas who are looking for creative space.
We are developing this formula specifically for artists who already have a clear direction for a new production and are urgently looking for creative space. It is also for artists who do not (yet) enjoy structural or project support. We believe it is important to be able to make connections with other aspects of our work. If you see opportunities in this regard, please indicate this when submitting your project proposal.
We want to keep the application process for this formula as accessible as possible. Artists can contact us to pitch their proposal in person (or digitally). We expect a clear concept and a clear plan of action. We use the following criteria when assessing each proposal:
This formula always targets a period of one week. Within this formula, we provide:
In February, the Dutch circus company Monki Business will be dropping anchor in our Circushaven! The company will be working on a third performance in a trilogy about optimism, drawing inspiration from, among other things, the open-mindedness of the children from our Circushaven. Uitkijkers will premiere during the MAD Festival in April 2026.
Just before summer, we welcome Jakobe Geens. With ‘Alles dat breekt, plopt, flopt’ (Everything that breaks, pops, flops), she is working on a new performance about human resilience in body and mind.
At the beginning of July, Anthony Weiss will head to De Klap in Deurne to work on ‘Androgyny’: a dance, a party, a celebration of the multifaceted nature of gender.
With ‘Rise’ Aurore Allo is working on a powerful solo act (short form) about internal conflicts. About the power of succeeding at something, the difficulty of obstacles, and the ever-stronger desire to get back up on your feet.
Be Flat is currently working on SKWAIR, a large-scale outdoor performance that transforms public space into a place for the audience and artists to play and meet. For BEEP, a scene in this performance, they will be working with young people.
At the end of the year, Sprookjes enzo will be working in our Circushaven on an interactive circus dance performance that will premiere in the spring of 2027.
Within this approach, we provide for short, defined periods. By not planning too far in advance, we can respond quickly and make room where it is most needed. This system is still developing in its first year. In the long term, we will develop a system with fixed registration times.
Do you have a specific creative question and are you looking for a short, focused work period? In the long term, we will be working with fixed registration periods for this formula. For now, we would be happy to discuss with you whether and how we can support you. Send an email with your project proposal (summarized on one A4 page) to info@ecdf.be.
