Have you noticed that almost all our summer residencies take place in Deurne? There’s a venue there that’s absolutely perfect for circus: De Klap! What a space: the height, the possibility of securing rigging material to concrete pillars, the flexibility. It’s a venue that understands the needs of circus creators. This is set to become a key venue for circus in Antwerp.

At the same time, this space gives us the opportunity to help shape the new cultural landscape in Deurne. Three prominent cultural venues set the tone in this regard:
- Pixel, a new venue for concerts, theatre, comedy and other stage performances, is opening in the former Pius X Church in Silsburg. In addition, there will be programmes for schools and holiday activities for children and young people.
- With a strong programme of films and a refurbished cinema auditorium, Cinema Rix remains a mainstay of the local film scene, whilst at the same time evolving into a broader cultural centre. With its residency programme and Barix as a meeting place, the venue remains firmly rooted in the neighbourhood.
- As mentioned, De Klap is continuing to evolve into a creative hub with a strong focus on circus, where we can develop our residency programme as a circus workshop. Schools, clubs and popular events organised by our partners remain welcome here too.

“The Circushaven in Deurne will become a place where creativity and social interaction come together.” – Arno Wauters
