With the ECDF START-UP LAB, Ell Circo D’ell Fuego supports unconventional, innovative and recently graduated circus professionals with their leap – or somersault – toward a professional career.
Jef, Jonas & Jakob of !UKBUM! were the first artists to take advantage of this paid(!) internship program during the period 2022-2023. With !UKBUM! they create absurd circus theater where they confront the audience with the eccentricities of everyday life.
Within the ECDF START-UP LABO, they were given not only space to work on their first show, but also insight in how to build a company. Furthermore, they learned how to communicate about their company, to themselves (who are we and what do we stand for?) and to the field.
It was nice to work intensively on business, communication and creative topics during the START-UP LAB, over an extended period of time. Moreover, we were also paid to learn all these things. To learn how to work, so to speak.
– Jef Kinds, !UKBUM!
