About Maelstrom
Two men meet. They end up in a spiral of humorous, energetic, enchanting moments. Witty and moving. Maelstrom is a playful, slightly surreal story in which the characters explore the conventions of masculinity in the different ways they relate to each other.
Company Alud draws on an extensive skill set to blur the boundaries between aerial straps, partner acrobatics, dance, and physical theater. With humour and a dose of daring, Maelstrom poses an open question to the audience: Masculinity, what is it really? An identity, a hero complex, a language of power? Does it also offer room for care, sensitivity and connection? Can it be a mix of all of the above, or is it just a label?

ABOUT COMPANY ALUD
Daniel Fernández López (Spain) and Seraphim Richter (Germany) started Company Alud out of a shared passion for contemporary circus and a desire to look beyond conventional aerial straps techniques. They use elements from partner acrobatics, dance and theater to explore a new and richer artistic vocabulary.
Powered by De Nationale Loterij
Company Alud participated in the ECDF START-UP LABO during the period 2023-2024. During this track, the National Lottery and Ell Circo D’ell Fuego work together to professionalize the Belgian circus landscape and its further positioning, both nationally and internationally.
